Carlton Street Colour Project

A sweet Hobart cottage regains its street appeal

Hobart 2.png

This sweet cottage in Hobart was overdue for some love. The paintwork was years old and dated the property, plus the Colorbond roof was falling apart in places. We arrived just in time to give this home an external makeover and improve its street appeal. Our in-house-created colour renders seen below helped our clients visualise their home before we made those all-important decisions.

The client brief

Our client was after a fresh update with a coloured door. That was it… the rest was up to us!

What we achieved

We chose to renew the existing roof. It's a rich charcoal colour - a smart update on the old brown. For the front timber deck we chose a darker paint; a hardwearing colour to endure the foot traffic and help hide dirt. The wooden fretwork and timber windows were restored and painted in a bright white to add a beautiful contrast to the main house colour.

We were able to show our client exactly what their home will look like with our beautiful colour renders created by our team. This allowed them to visualise the final result before painting, getting it right the first time.

Designer tip: We always recommend doing some paint swatches to test your options first. Grab a few sheets of plywood from your local DIY store and paint two coats of your paint samples on. Once dry, move the painted sheets around your house at different times of the day to get an idea of how the different swatches look in different lights. You’ll be surprised how shade versus natural light will change your colours instantly!

Feeling the love from our client

As well as being lovely, Danielle is a talented professional and is great to work with. She has provided invaluable advice. Highly recommended.
