HIA Awards Bathroom Design of the Year

An award winning sapphire blue bathroom

We are thrilled to announce that the stunning Mosman House Four main bathroom has been awarded NSW Best Bathroom Design 2024 at the HIA NSW Kitchen & Bathroom Awards. Take a look through the design behind this glamorous sapphire bathroom and understand the intricate design details that transformed this room from outdated to functional luxury.

Our client’s brief directed us to specify a bold colour scheme and blend elegance and functionality, for this bathroom that sits close to the entry to the home. The bathroom features rich blue colour with contrasting brass finishes, aligning with our client’s artwork and creating an impressive impact on entry. We thoughtfully designed this space to be both alluring and functional with elements like the half-height wall designed to hide the toilet cistern and create a quartzite-topped shelf running the entire length of the room.

Take a look at some of the other design considerations below:

Functionality and aesthetics

No detail was missed in this bathroom; from carefully considered adjacency planning for items such as the heated towel rails and robe hooks, to colour matching wall tiles to the wall and ceiling colour. The custom bathroom joinery combines functionality with aesthetics, with charger drawers designed for items such as hairdryers and curling tongs, while the frameless mirror was specified to add width and volume to the elongated room and open shelving designed so that our client could keep cosmetics handy.

The Ijen Blue quartzite vanity top was chosen specifically for its striking veining to pick up the warm tones of the brass hardware and link to the marble floor tiles. All the tapware is sourced from Brodware, proudly Australian owned and made and purchased through our supplier Candana.

Before the renovation

The existing bathroom was underwhelming and had outdated finishes and fixtures. The large window in the shower caused water issues which we rectified by increasing the sill height. The exterior window changes in this renovation warranted a CDC application to council, and once that was approved the build with Tranquil Projects started. The renovation also included a kitchen, guest ensuite bathroom, master ensuite bathroom and laundry, and took six months. To see more of Mosman House Four click here.

This jewel-toned space represents a truly elevated take on the conventional bathroom and we’re delighted to have won the design category of the HIA bathroom awards. This win represents our dedication to intricate and detailed design for our clients, and we couldn’t be happier to share the design and award with win you.
