WHY SHOULD YOU HIRE A PROFESSIONAL?

Seven reasons to hire an interior designer

Embarking on a renovation project can be quite daunting and overwhelming, especially when it comes to understanding the role of an Interior Designer. We want to help you understand just how much value an interior designer can bring to your project. Here are our top seven reasons for hiring one.

1. We are the sticking glue of your project

We serve as the vital link that ensures smooth collaboration and effective communication among you, the builder, and the tradespeople involved in your project. We have the skills, know-how and experience to create designs & solutions, overcome problems, implement change and run your project from start to finish.

Client + interior designer + builder = a winning combo!

2. Prevent budget blowouts

Although the fees you’ll need to pay to hire an interior designer can make cost savings seem unlikely, in reality the detail and forward-planning that an interior designer adds to the early stages of your project absolutely helps you avoid costly mistakes. An interior designer knows where the value in spending is necessary and exactly where it isn't.

3. You can keep your day job

If you find yourself lacking time to spare, you may be surprised at the extensive demands a construction project can place on your schedule. From reviewing and approving floor plans and shop drawings to coordinating meetings and obtaining quotes from builders, not to mention the meticulous task of ensuring timely procurement and delivery of every light, bathroom fixture and hardware item – it can easily become overwhelming. Fortunately, that's precisely where we come in. This is our specialty.

4. Visualise your home before it’s built

With detailed floor plans, elevations, mood boards, sample boards, and renders (showcasing true finishes and colours), the presentations provided by an interior designer become an invaluable source of information. They offer you a vivid sense of the envisioned interior style for your home. We have factored in pricing revisions within our fees, so you have the opportunity to fine-tune designs, layouts, and finishes until you're completely satisfied. This meticulous selection process also allows the builder to accurately price your project.

5. Detailed drawings for your builder

With our detailed and heavily annotated drawings your builder can execute the design on site. Your home literally gets built from the drawings we produce in our studio. We visit site multiple times during the build, especially at stages like plumbing set out, joinery install, tiling set outs and lighting installation, so we can catch any mishaps before they happen. We’ll check every detail of drawings from cabinet makers, ensuring every detail is correct before anything gets manufactured or installed on site. Imagine doing this yourself!?!

6. Items can be ordered for you

We stay in close contact with your builder right from the start of your project so that we can anticipate when items will be required on site. We carefully consider lead times and order items such as bathroom ware, flooring, hardware and lighting ahead of time, ensuring it turns up on time for your builder to be making progress on your project every day. With our trade supplier contacts and the relationships with our trusted suppliers, we are able to store your items with them, until required unlike most retailers.

7. Access to our builder, trade and supplier contact book

Over time we have worked with many builders and trades, forming our firm favourites for quality craftsmanship and working relationships. We always gather three builder quotes for our projects so that our clients have options to consider. We coordinate all communication and initial site visits for quoting, and present final quotes for you to choose from. We save you hours of scrolling through Google, interviewing unknown builders and subcontractors and worrying about their reputation and results.

Read our client testimonials here to get more of an idea of how we work with our clients. We’re with them for the long haul and love delivering their dream homes for them.

Get in touch if you’d like to learn more about our design services and would like to have a chat about how we can help you with your upcoming project. We’d love to hear from you!
